Beyond dystopian. This is the most horrific thing that most of us have ever witnessed or followed in our lifetimes. As Amnesty International and many others have said, this is a live streamed genocide. There is no limit to the atrocities that Israel is committing against the Palestinian people. I’ve had several colleagues reach out and ask questions such as how much blood is needed or what sort of surgical specialties are needed. These are really abstract questions amid genocide. You wouldn’t have asked during the Rwanda genocide or the massacres in Srebrenica how many vascular surgeons are needed, how many units of blood are needed. What we need to be doing now is to mobilize collectively to force those who remain complicit in Israel’s genocide to act to bring about an immediate end to this barbarity.
